AIS Connect: Fully Funded Courses Available to Boost Skills for NOF Energy Members

Up to £1 million of European funding is up for grabs now to help NOF members upskill their workers thanks to AIS Connect.

AIS Connect has successfully secured the substantial pot of European money in a bid to help local people secure jobs and local companies train their workforce in essential skills such as engineering, welding, scaffolding and more. Though eligibility criteria applies, any company with an office of base in the North East of England is encouraged to get in touch to take advantage of the opportunity to upskill workforce without the cost.

The overall aim of the initiative is to improve business growth and prosperity across the entire North-East region.

AIS Connect’s sister organisation, AIS Training, delivers more than 400 courses for the oil and gas, renewables and heavy industry sectors including essential skills such as rigging and lifting, banksman slinger, non-destructive testing, scaffolding, offshore oil & gas and industry-recognised wind qualifications. Many of these courses are eligible for the European funding pot and therefore potentially free-of-charge to businesses that qualify.

Charlie Guthrie, marketing manager at AIS Group, said: “Skills shortages are a huge issue for employers and we’re delighted to have won this funding on behalf of North East based companies. By working closely with individual companies, we can develop bespoke training programmes to match their needs and create a tailor-made, competent and motivated workforce for the future. As well as helping regional companies deliver their own growth plans, this will ultimately help the North-East region as a whole to boost its competitiveness on a global stage.

“Although not all of our courses are eligible for this funding, many are, and we are urging NOF members who think they may benefit to give us a call and see if we can help.”
